PUTRAJAYA: Malaysians, particularly those in rural areas, can now air their grouses on the civil service via a free post service.

They only need to fill up a specially designed feedback form - provided by the Public Complaints Bureau - now available at 300 selected Pos Malaysia and Pos Mini outlets nationwide.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Paul Low said the service would be helpful, especially for rural folk with no access to the Internet.

"The impact of globalisation and the Internet has taken over the classic practice of sending letters.

"However, we have an obligation to serve those who have no access to the latest technologies and who prefer the post office as their major communication method.

"The Government is always prepared to listen to the rakyat and take the necessary action to address the issues brought forward," Low said at the launch of the new service at the post office in Parcel B yesterday.

The forms, which are printed on a single sheet with designated columns for the complainants' personal details, description of their grouses and the action required by them, are pre-addressed to Mail Box 9000 at the Pos Malaysia headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

The complaints will then be reviewed by the bureau for follow-up action.

Personal details of the complainants are necessary for the bureau to provide updates on the progress of their cases.

Bureau director-general Datuk Mahani Tan Abdullah said it would acknowledge receipt of a feedback form within one working day.

However, response to an ordinary complaint might take up to 14 working days, added Mahani.
